Buck Milligan - Winner of Chopped Junior 2016

Buck Milligan In November of 2016, Buck became a Chopped Jr Champion by winning an episode of Food Networks highly rated TV show Chopped Jr.   In June of 2017, Buck competed in the first ever Chopped Jr Tournament of Champions, which pitted 16 of the Best of Best from the 88 previous Chopped Champions in a tournament to determine the Chopped Jr Grand Champion.  In the finals, Buck, age 11, competed against three contenders age 14-15 and won to be crowned Chopped Jr Grand Champion.  

Buck grew up in a family that has always enjoyed cooking and sharing food.  Buck learned to cook helping the family prepare meals.  Corey Milligan, Bucks father, is owner of New West Knifeworks, maker of fine kitchen cutlery based in Jackson Hole.  Jessica Milligan is VP of the Jackson Hole Mountain resort at which one of her responsibilities includes overseeing the Food and Beverage division.

Besides cooking at home, Buck has enjoyed many adventures in hunting and gathering with his dad harvesting and butchering wild and domestic animals, gardening and shopping at local farmers markets. He is also an important member of the Jackson Hole Moose Rugby Club food and beverage committee.  His culinary skills have also been greatly influenced by his Grandmother, a great home cook and baker.  His Aunt and Uncle Chris and Kim Kidder who are a renowned chef and pastry chef in Los Angeles have also taught him a great deal.  

In preparation for the Chopped Jr Tournament of Champions, Buck apprenticed at the Rendezvous Bistro, one of Jackson Hole’s finest restaurants. Buck has a passion for making handmade Pasta.  His culinary debut was a simple pasta dish that “stole the show” at a fundraiser dinner he and is father prepared for Rendezvous Park.  He has also sold his dried pasta at the Jackson Hole People’s Market. The rest of the time, Buck enjoys whitewater kayaking, soccer, Nordic and alpine skiing, mountain biking and just being a kid here in Jackson Hole.
